5The Most Used Screws In My Shop!  Nov 20, 2011
By Ethyl Plant
I have used these screws for a long time. The 1 1/4" work well for fastening 2 pieces of 3/4" material together without coming out the other side. These screws have tremendous holding power. One of the things I really like about this screw is the ACR head. To best describe it would be to say it looks like an oversized Phillips head, but it isn't. The ACR head allows the bits to get a really good grip, and holds that tight grip even at extreme angles when driving these screws with a screw gun (cordless drill). The special bit comes with the box (I have several in my tool box from previous boxes of screws). I use these screws indoors, and outdoors on everything. They work extremely well on the new treated wood.

I have been buying these screws by the #25 box for all sizes except 1 1/4". These I could only find in the #1 box, or occasionally the #5 box. This was getting very expensive ($7 for the #1 box, and $27 for the #5 box). When I saw these on Amazon for $98 for the #25 box, I jumped on this deal. I am also a member of Prime, so the shipping was free also. This made for a most excellent deal for me. I will definitely be buying more boxes of these screws.

To make using these screws easier, drill pilot holes and countersinks first (but not too deep). Also, do not over tighten the fastener when driving it in with a cordless drill/driver. This really helps eliminate splitting the wood.
