5A high quality product  Mar 19, 2011
By Mike G.
I have used these screws on decks and playsets and I would highly recommend them. They are very hard to strip and as the product description states they do not rust. It is possible to scratch some of the coating while driving the screw, but that is relatively difficult to do, and the screws that have had a small amount of the coating scratched off have not given me any problems. I have never had one of these screws break while being driven or removed. This product is well worth every penny. At the time of this review these screws are competitively priced compared to the big box home improvement stores.

5SO HAPPY these are still available  Nov 07, 2011
By Henry G. "Gumbydammit"
I began to use "Deck Mate" screws from Home Depot, and fell in love with them, then when I was hooked, Home Depot switched the product and it was complete crap. I have seen this in the past with their contractor garbage bags. Great product, and then they cheapen it to the point where the product is junk.

So I was wondering if the original screws were still available. After much web-ferreting, I found out Philips is still making them! Woo Hoo! I always want to do my projects right, and these screws have never let me down. Have you ever had a screw head break off just under the torque of cinching it down with a screwdriver? Well, not these. They even tend to have a ductile property to them that I love. Makes me more comfortable using them in places where strength is important. I'd hate to hang a joist and have it come crashing down when the cheap screws broke the heads off under strain.

anyway, I am very glad to see these again. So if you are looking for the original screws that used to be in the Home Depot stores across the Midwest, these are the ones. Also, if you have never used these, wait to see the bite you get with their special driver bits. I never even have to hold the screw, just push the screw head onto the bit and start putting something together.

They aren't cheap, but worth every penny to have it done right.

5phillipsII Plus 8 X 1-5/8' Tan exterior screws  Jul 22, 2011
By Dlaud
I got online to see where I could get these screws. I ran out and had been to Lowe's, two lumber yards and a hardware store without luck. I agree with the other reviews. These are great screws!! They have not stripped on me or broke while I was putting up a privacy fence like the phillips-only or the 'star drive'(T-20) screws did. The star-drive screws wobbled on me or slipped several times while I was trying to drive them into a fence picket...frustrating me to the point of almost cursing; but these PhillipsII Plus screws went in each time without trouble.

5NICE HIGH QUALITY SCREWS  May 23, 2011
By Earl R. Olsen
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

5Best Screw on the Market  Jun 24, 2010
By Shild
I use these screws for everything. They don't strip and you can really torque them down. I used to buy them at Home Depot, but now all they have are these star drive screws, which wobble when you start them and strip easy. I took apart an old deck at my house and the previous owner had used the square head screws. They were stripping constantly, very hard to get out. I've have used and reused these screws often. I've had to pull up deck boards and was able to easily remove the screws and reuse them to put the boards back down. I even save old ones, because they are re-usable.
