5Great Product  Dec 21, 2011
By HappyTraveler "Traveler"
I've used these screws on several outdoor projects and I've never seen one rust or even change color - even years after they've been installed. Modified phillips drive works very well as I've never had a screw strip out on me. Even when using 1/2in drill to drive them in decking boards.

5SO HAPPY these are still available  Nov 07, 2011
By Henry G. "Gumbydammit"
I began to use "Deck Mate" screws from Home Depot, and fell in love with them, then when I was hooked, Home Depot switched the product and it was complete crap. I have seen this in the past with their contractor garbage bags. Great product, and then they cheapen it to the point where the product is junk.

So I was wondering if the original screws were still available. After much web-ferreting, I found out Philips is still making them! Woo Hoo! I always want to do my projects right, and these screws have never let me down. Have you ever had a screw head break off just under the torque of cinching it down with a screwdriver? Well, not these. They even tend to have a ductile property to them that I love. Makes me more comfortable using them in places where strength is important. I'd hate to hang a joist and have it come crashing down when the cheap screws broke the heads off under strain.

anyway, I am very glad to see these again. So if you are looking for the original screws that used to be in the Home Depot stores across the Midwest, these are the ones. Also, if you have never used these, wait to see the bite you get with their special driver bits. I never even have to hold the screw, just push the screw head onto the bit and start putting something together.

They aren't cheap, but worth every penny to have it done right.

5Love these screws that work with square head drivers  Apr 03, 2011

I used to buy these at Lowes. I don't know why Lowes and HD only carry screws that require torx head drivers. These are great. The screws I installed 8 years ago still look good.

Looked at Lowes and Home Depot and found the same screws for a lower price here. Got to love it!
