5Perfect for improving door security  Oct 21, 2011

I ordered these to replace the standard (short) screws that came with our deadbolt and doorknob strike plates. Replacing the 3/4" - 1 1/2" screws with longer (3"+) hardware can significantly increase protection and entry delay from someone trying to kick in the door. At 3", they penetrate the relatively flimsy door jamb and reach the jack studs which are far sturdier. These were very economical compared to my local big box hardware supplier so I plan on replacing the strike plate and hinge screws on all exterior doors. I hope this information helps.
